Upper parts with minute granules intermixed with very large, trihedral, strongly keeled tubercles forming 14 or 1C more or less regular longitudinal series; the largest tubercles a little broader than long; ventral scales small, smooth, roundish, imbricate; a series of small round tubercles borders the belly on each side. Males with a long series of praeanal and femoral pores, not interrupted in the middle, 14 to 17 on each side. Tail swollen, depressed, above with transverse rows of large conical tubercles beneath with small, imbricate scales: the reproduced tail flat and leaf-like, without tubercles. Grey-brown above, spotted or marbled with black, or with wavy black cross-bars; some of the dorsal tubercles white; a dark streak on each side of the head, passing through the eye; intact tail with black and white annuli.
